These double rainbows are a natural phenomenom called "Sundogs".
There was also a third rainbow visible at the top of the arc, but that is out of frame, the camera being in panoramic mode. I believe that sometimes the entire arc is visible as one big semi-circle in the sky. The figure in the middle is my son Timothy, carefully positioned to obscure the Sun. This is a rare event, and it is the only time I have ever seen it. It was late in the afternoon during the Summer of 1997. The picture was taken in our back garden, and has not been retouched or enhanced in any way.
