This page is an example of the sort of

Thing that I get into……

 

Beverley had taken some photographs of a rose in our garden,

but because of bad light, they were faint.

The first picture is as original:

A rather faded photograph of a Rose.

As you can see, the

original was faint,

with poor colour definition.

This was sad, as this rose is

planted above our much

loved dog, Lucy.

   

So, I scanned the picture

and adjusted the contrast in

MGI photosuite. We were

both pleased with the

result, and I then decided

to put some effects on

the picture...

It's amazing what a change in contrast can do.

   

Not to mention swirly distortions!

  It will come as no

surprise that this effect

is called swirl. I most liked

the way in which the rose

blends into the brickwork

behind it, but I wanted

to explore more...

   

  So, finally I added a ripple

to the swirled image,

resulting in this:
